Glover Parents Club Minutes

January 7, 2010



Meeting Started:  6:40 pm


In Attendance:  Julie Thaler, Jessica Poirier, Tracy Taylor, Debra Mackay, Mr. Burnash, and Julie Thompson.


Secretary’s Report:  Emailed, and handed out to parents in attendance. 


Treasurer’s Report:  Balance at this time is 5,011.97, with 1,000 set aside for No String Puppet Company for their workshop being held in April.  Request for funds of about 40.00 for ordering checks and file storage by the treasurer was submitted and approved.


Craft Fair:  The total profit for the event is looking to be at this time about 600.00.  Any changes to the event will be worked out next fall before the event.


Winter Field Day:  Date and time were up for discussion, but since the normal day we hold it falls on a half day we are running ideas by the teachers to see what they think may work out the best.  Mr. Auclair is willing to help in any way he can.  Info about the event will be sent out as soon as all details are decided on.


RIF:  We had our first distribution before Christmas break and it seemed to go very well.  We had to make a few selection changes with the company and the new books are on the way.  We are planning to have our next distribution on Feb. 18th, possibly in the afternoon this time.  We are also going  to have the children decorate and color their own book marks, which will be laminated and will go home with them on Feb. 18th


Box Tops:  Will be starting Feb. 1st.  A notice will be going home with the dates and what our goal is this year.  


Campbell’s Soup Labels:   It was mentioned at the meeting and is going to be looked into to see if it would be something that we would be able to participate in.


Town Report:  A copy of what is to be submitted was handed out and looked over to see if any changes or ideas need to be added.  Everything looked good and will be sent out. 


Honor Roll:  We were trying to come up with other ideas that might be of interest to the students who will be receiving a reward for being on the honor roll.   For now we will proceed the way we did last year and see what else we come up with.

Hi to all Parents:


The Parents Club has been having an ongoing discussion about what we would like to do for those students that make the honor roll.  In years past we have gotten them gift certificates to Waterfront Movie Theater, IROC, and to Currier's.  We have been wondering if any or how many of these are being used.  It has been mentioned as a suggestion to just give the students the dollar amount that we would give them in a gift certificate in cash.  We have also come up with an idea of giving the students who have been on the honor roll so many times throughout the year a pizza and ice cream party at the end of the year

for all their hard work.  We are looking for any comments or ideas that you may have so that these students that are working hard all year get some acknowledgement for what they have done. 


Please write back with any and all feedback and questions that you have so that when we have our next meeting we can try to come up with an ideas of how we would like to reward them this year.
